Responsibilities
At Principal, products provide value to customers, users, and partners, and help solve their needs as we work to enable a world where financial security is accessible to all. The Associate Product Manager is responsible for supporting Product Managers as part of a product management team; however, they are not the accountable Product Manager for a product. They develop knowledge, experience, and skills by working side-by-side experienced product managers. They participate and assist with discovery sessions, maintaining product health and operations metrics, and aiding in insights gathering. They typically support a highly complex product or family of products; gaining exposure and building relationships with key product disciplines. While building the skills required to operate as an independent product manager, they contribute to an efficient and effective product practice. They demonstrate curiosity, open-mindedness, and motivation to gain exposure and experience in all phases of the product lifecycle. They are required to understand product strategy, partner with PMs in product discovery, be responsible for product delivery, assist in product assesment and become adept at communication.
Qualifications
Any bachelor degree. MBA good to have.
4-6 years of business, technology, or product experience; or equivalent demonstrated through the following: work experience, training, military experience, and education.
Basic experience with strategic thinking and decision making in a professional context.
Basic experience with managing multiple workloads and/or competing priorities in a professional context.
Basic experience with synthesizing, summarizing, and aggregating information and building visuals.
Demonstrated experience solving problems and operating in uncertainty.
Demonstrated experience producing accurate and high-quality deliverables.
Demonstrated experience contributing within a team setting.
Additional Information
Work experience of having worked in a Business Analyst, Product Owner or Product Manager role is a plus.
