Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and age-appropriate lessons in accordance with the school curriculum.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that supports the diverse learning needs of all students.
- Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to support different learning styles and abilities.
- Assess, record, and report on the progress, development, and attainment of students regularly.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents or guardians.
- Develop and maintain classroom routines that promote respect, responsibility, and positive behaviour.
- Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and school leadership to enhance the educational experience for all students.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, parent-teacher conferences, and school events.
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to support student learning and well-being.
- Uphold school policies and maintain high standards of teaching, learning, and professionalism.
- Identify and respond to the individual needs of students, including those with special educational needs or learning difficulties.
- Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance learning and engagement.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Strong knowledge of child development and age-appropriate teaching methods
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to create a supportive, inclusive, and positive classroom environment
- Effective classroom management and behaviour management skills
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency in using educational technology and digital teaching tools
- Ability to assess student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work as part of a team
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field
- Teaching certification or licensure valid for the specific state, region, or country
- Additional qualifications or training in special education, literacy, or curriculum development (desirable)
- Previous experience teaching elementary-aged children (typically 1-3 years or more)
- Experience working with children of diverse backgrounds and learning abilities
- Familiarity with the curriculum and educational standards relevant to the school
- Experience in lesson planning, assessment, and classroom management
- Participation in professional development and ongoing teacher training
