We are seeking an experienced Shipping Business Analyst to bridge the gap between business operations and technology solutions within shipping, maritime, and logistics environments. This role is responsible for understanding business processes, gathering requirements, and translating operational needs into effective system enhancements and technology solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong domain expertise in shipping operations, liner services, maritime workflows, and EDI/EDIFACT transactions, along with excellent stakeholder management skills. You will work closely with business users, application support teams, developers, and external vendors to ensure business-critical systems operate efficiently and continue to evolve with changing operational requirements. This role offers the opportunity to drive process improvements, support digital transformation initiatives, and contribute to the successful delivery of technology solutions that enhance operational efficiency, compliance, and customer service.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements from stakeholders across shipping, maritime, and logistics functions.
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications and technology-driven solutions.
  • Support and enhance shipping, liner operation, and maritime business applications.
  • Act as a liaison between business users, technical teams, and third-party vendors to ensure successful solution delivery.
  • Perform impact analysis for system changes, enhancements, and new business requirements.
  • Coordinate testing activities, including system testing, integration testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Support application deployment, release management, and post-implementation activities.
  • Prepare business requirement documents, functional specifications, process flows, user guides, and operational documentation.
  • Manage support tickets, service requests, change requests, and issue resolution activities within agreed service levels.
  • Monitor application performance and proactively identify opportunities for process and system improvements.
  • Support compliance, audit, governance, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure business continuity and smooth operational support across critical shipping systems.
  • Facilitate communication between business and technical teams to ensure alignment on project objectives and deliverables.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • 4–8 years of experience as a Business Analyst within shipping, maritime, logistics, or transportation industries.
  • Strong understanding of shipping operations, liner services, maritime workflows, and logistics processes.
  • Hands-on experience with EDI and EDIFACT transaction processing and integration workflows.
  • Experience supporting shipping applications, liner management systems, or maritime technology platforms.
  • Proven ability to gather, analyze, and document business requirements effectively.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across business and technical teams.
  • Experience managing application support, issue resolution, and enhancement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on operational efficiency.
  • Knowledge of business process improvement methodologies and system optimization practices.
  • Experience coordinating testing, UAT, deployment, and change management activities.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality business solutions and support.
