Senior Software Engineer – Python/MySQL

ScienceLogic, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on multi-process Python development. Ideal candidates will be able to take a lead role in reviewing/accepting requirements, building new data collection and manipulation functionality, and resolving complex defects within the software.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work with Product Management to accept and refine requirements in areas of team ownership of IT monitoring features
• Troubleshoot and mitigate MySQL and Python performance issues found in the Skylar One platform
• Implement new feature work in Python, PHP, and MySQL, using accepted coding practices that produce quality, maintainable software, including writing and maintaining unit tests
• Participate in feature hand-off demonstrations to provide internal exposure to new and existing functionality
  
  

Must Have Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years software development experience in Python, including maintaining highly-scalable processes running in Python
• Some programming experience with PHP
• 6+ years using Linux
• 6+ years of MySQL, including exposure to views, stored functions, and stored procedures, and analyzing queries for optimal performance
• Experience developing multi-threaded or multi-process software
• Basic working knowledge of: SNMP, SOAP, RESTful APIs
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (GitHub primarily)
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, from requirements through delivery.
  
  

Good To Have Qualifications:

• Experience reviewing AI-produced code and designs for accuracy
• Understanding of GitHub actions and Jenkins build workflows
• Experience working on backend Software Engineering environments with large datasets
• Experience working in Agile environments
• Demonstrating new work to stakeholders for feedback and education
  
  

Nice to Have Qualifications:

• AI-related software development lifecycle experience (AI DLC), as well as incorporating AI assistance in daily workflows
• Experience in the area of network or systems management is a major plus.
• Experience with network observability or monitoring platforms
• Exposure to distributed systems and large-scale data processing
• Contributions to system architecture, ensuring high-availability and performance for system components
