We are looking for a Technical Commodity Specialist for our Hydro Power North America division within GE Vernova.

The Technical Commodity Specialist is responsible for the procurement of goods and services within the framework of projects for the realization of turbine-generator groups of hydroelectric projects. The managed commodity will be welded structures, machining, painting, rehabilitaiton.

Job Description
The Regional Commodity Specialist (RCS) will have to:
- Analyze the equipment acquisition needs of the company's projects. Prepare purchase forecasts taking into account all projects to be carried out and current offers;
- Develop sourcing strategies consistent with overall sourcing policies, meeting customer needs while generating cost reductions;
- Deploy the purchasing strategy for its convenience in close collaboration with other relevant departments such as, sales, engineering, quality, etc;
- Identify and achieve the business and cost reduction objectives set for the year. Generate and coordinate cost reduction ideas and optimization actions both at the offer and implementation stages;
- Administer and update framework agreements and price lists; ensure that they are respected and intervene in the event of a deviation; plan and negotiate renewals of expiring agreements;
- Support the sourcing proposal coordinator in the preparation of offers (ITO); propose a competitive industrial plan and validate the relevance and accuracy of the costing of the offer before it is submitted;
- Execute the buying process from the purchase requisition up to (but excluding) PO placement: analysis of bids, selection of suppliers and negotiation of orders;
- Monitor supplier performance, assess risks and opportunities linked to the supply chain (Quality, OTD) and develop mitigation plans;
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Engineering (Mechanical/ Electrical, EEE) or any relevant field with 2 years of experience in procurement, technical sales or similar.
- Knowledge of products in power generation/rotating machines industry;
- Mechanical domain expertise and knowledge ( Hydraulic systems , coolers, Valves, pumps etc.) will be considered an important asset;
- Good commercial knowledge and mastery of negotiation techniques;
- Excellent ability to communicate and negotiate in both English and French (Good to Have)
- Excellent skills for teamwork;
- Judgment and ability to clearly communicate his and her ideas;
- Experience in the context of carrying out projects;
- Ability to work in a stimulating and demanding work environment.
Note : The position is based in our Vadodara office and work hours are offset to matching Eastern Time (North America) until 12 noon.
