Manager - Bidding

About the Role

Lead the bidding function by driving strategic tender responses, optimizing bid processes, and delivering compelling proposals that secure new business opportunities and long-term client partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement competitive bidding strategies to maximise win rates and business growth.
• Identify and prioritise high-value tenders, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Establish pricing models and cost structures to ensure profitability while remaining competitive.
• Develop and refine bid management processes, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and adherence to best practices.
• Oversee the entire bidding process, from opportunity identification to proposal submission.
• Create compelling, customised proposals that align with client requirements and business capabilities.
• Ensure accurate, high-quality, and timely submission of tender documents.
• Develop cost structures and pricing models that balance competitiveness with profitability.
• Maintain records of bid submissions, success rates, and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
• Conduct internal bid reviews, securing necessary approvals from senior management.
• Ensure all tender submissions meet regulatory, legal, and contractual requirements.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing bid management team.
• Provide ongoing training to enhance bid writing, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Total Experience: 5-10 years in tendering, bidding, contracts, or procurement.
• Industry Experience: Preferably in (industry-specific, e.g., construction, oil & gas, IT, infrastructure, healthcare, manufacturing, etc.).
• Bid Management: Proven track record in handling large-scale tenders, government contracts, and private sector bids.
• Contract & Procurement: Strong experience in contract negotiation, cost estimation, and financial modelling.
• Compliance & Regulations: Familiarity with public procurement laws, FIDIC/NEC contracts, and ISO standards.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Experience in liaising with government agencies, clients, suppliers, and legal teams.
• Technology & Tools: Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle), bid management software, and MS Office Suite.
• Leadership & Strategy: Experience in leading tendering teams, developing bid strategies, and improving win rates.
