Job Description
The Assistant Officer for Health Safety & Environment plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel within the organization. This position involves overseeing the implementation of safety protocols and compliance with industrial safety norms. The role requires a proactive approach to managing hazardous waste and ensuring adherence to OHSAS standards. The Assistant Officer will work closely with the HSE lead to develop and execute safety management plans, conduct regular inspections, and ensure the availability of personal protective equipment (PPE.. This position demands excellent communication skills to effectively report and coordinate with various departments. The Assistant Officer will also be responsible for training new employees on safety procedures and maintaining comprehensive records of safety audits and incidents. A strong commitment to fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement is essential for success in this role.

Principal Accountabilities
Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with all safety standard operating procedures and work instructionsbrSchedule and oversee inspections of critical lifting equipment including EOT cranes and mobile cranes in collaboration with the site operation and maintenance teambrImplement and monitor the monthly HSE management plan which includes various health safety and environmental checks as preplanned by the HSE leadbrEnsure the availability of PPE and enforce safe work procedures for critical tasksbrDeliver daily HSE induction training to all new contractor and company employeesbrCompile and communicate daily reports to the HSE lead including task summaries dispensary reports incident investigations and training databrPrepare and submit daily weekly and monthly HSE data reports to the HSE lead for further analysisbrMaintain open communication with function and plant incharges regarding HSE tasks and observations through various communication channelsbrTrain and maintain the strength of fire fighters across the plant coordinating safety committee meetings with members and their department headsbrOrganize quarterly safety audits in all plants prepare detailed reports and ensure compliance with audit findingsbrEnsure all firefighting equipment is uptodate and maintain records of fire extinguisher services according to IS standardsbrCoordinate with vendors and the procurement team for external services related to fire equipment following established commercial formalitiesbrLead the organization of National Safety Week activities and ensure maximum participationbrAssist the HSE lead in conducting safety awareness activities such as Road Safety Week Fire Service Day and Environment DaybrCoordinate with the HSE lead to conduct mock drills monthly fire drills and firefighting demonstrations in collaboration with plant headsbrWork with external service providers for the inspection and testing of lifting equipment and pressure vessels as per GFR regulationsbrLiaise with government bodies to ensure compliance with safety regulations
