About The Role

Tochico Cafe is looking for an experienced and passionate Head Barista to lead our barista team and oversee day-to-day coffee operations. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in specialty coffee, espresso-based beverages, team management, and cafe operations, along with a genuine passion for delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and mentor the barista team to maintain consistent beverage quality and excellent customer service.
• Oversee daily bar operations, including opening/closing procedures, workflow, hygiene, and service standards.
• Prepare and ensure consistency of espresso-based beverages, specialty coffees, cold brews, and other cafe beverages.
• Maintain and operate espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment, ensuring proper calibration and maintenance.
• Train baristas on espresso extraction, brewing techniques, latte art, beverage preparation, and customer service.
• Monitor coffee quality, taste profiles, and presentation while maintaining Tochico Cafe's beverage standards.
• Manage coffee and beverage inventory, including stock monitoring, wastage control, and timely replenishment.
• Coordinate with management and vendors for coffee beans, equipment, and other bar requirements.
• Contribute ideas for new beverages, seasonal menus, and specialty coffee offerings.
• Ensure the coffee station and overall cafe area remain clean, organized, and compliant with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Handle customer feedback professionally and ensure a positive guest experience.
• Support management with cafe events, promotions, and operational initiatives.
  
  

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on Barista experience, preferably in a high-volume cafe, specialty coffee shop, hotel, or hospitality environment.
• Prior experience as a Senior Barista / Head Barista / Barista Supervisor is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of espresso preparation, coffee brewing, grinders, extraction, and equipment handling.
• Experience with alternative brewing methods such as pour-over, cold brew, French press, or AeroPress.
• Good understanding of coffee origins, roasting, flavor profiles, and bean selection.
• Strong skills in latte art and beverage presentation.
• Experience in training and supervising junior baristas.
• Good understanding of inventory control, wastage management, and cafe hygiene standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first approach.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• SCA or other professional coffee certifications will be an added advantage.
