Fango
Company: Fango
Location: Bangalore, India
Experience: 5–8 Years
Role Type: Full-Time | Founding Leadership
Work Mode: Hybrid / Bangalore
About Fango
Fango is an early-stage technology startup building a convenient and reliable platform for household services. We are developing a technology-driven marketplace that connects customers with trusted service professionals and aims to make everyday home services simpler, faster, and more accessible.
We are looking for a Founding CTO & Co-Founder who will take ownership of Fango's technology function and work closely with the existing founding team to build and scale the company.
This is not a conventional CTO or senior engineering position. We are looking for someone who wants to take entrepreneurial ownership, shape the company's technology and product direction, build and lead the technology organization, and grow with Fango as a long-term founding partner.
About the Opportunity
As the Founding CTO & Co-Founder, you will own Fango's technology vision and execution end-to-end.
You will work closely with the existing founders to define the product and technology roadmap, maintain and improve the existing platform, make key technology decisions, establish engineering practices, and build the technology team as Fango scales.
This is a founder-level opportunity involving significant responsibility, long-term commitment, and financial participation in the company.
The selected candidate will be expected to contribute capital to Fango as part of joining the founding team. The investment amount, structure, equity arrangement, vesting, responsibilities, and other commercial terms will be discussed transparently and mutually agreed upon based on the candidate's profile, contribution, and involvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technology Ownership
Take complete ownership of Fango's technology function and technical direction.
Define and execute the long-term technology strategy in alignment with the company's business goals.
Evaluate, select, and evolve the technology stack as the product and business scale.
Make architecture, infrastructure, security, scalability, and technology investment decisions.
Ensure the platform is reliable, secure, maintainable, and scalable.
Identify technical risks and proactively address technical debt and performance issues.
2. Product & Engineering
Work closely with the founders and product team to convert business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Own the end-to-end product development lifecycle.
Maintain, improve, and continuously optimize the existing Fango platform.
Review existing implementations and identify opportunities for improvement.
Establish development standards, code quality practices, testing processes, documentation, and deployment practices.
Ensure timely delivery of product features and technology initiatives.
Evaluate when to use existing platforms, low-code/no-code solutions, custom development, or third-party services.
3. Technology Team Leadership
Lead and mentor the existing and future technology team.
Hire, evaluate, and build a strong engineering team as Fango grows.
Define engineering roles, responsibilities, workflows, and development processes.
Review technical work and ensure engineering quality.
Establish a culture of ownership, accountability, speed, and continuous improvement.
Work with external developers, technology partners, or agencies when required.
4. Product & Business Strategy
Participate actively in product strategy and major business decisions.
Translate customer and business requirements into technology priorities.
Work with the founding team to prioritize the product roadmap.
Contribute to discussions around product-market fit, scalability, growth, and expansion.
Bring a technology-first perspective to solving business problems.
5. Startup & Founding Responsibilities
Work as a strategic partner to the founders, not merely as a technology executor.
Take ownership of outcomes and operate effectively in an early-stage startup environment.
Be comfortable working with ambiguity and changing priorities.
Contribute to fundraising, investor discussions, technology due diligence, and technical presentations when required.
Help build Fango's long-term technology organization and culture.
Be committed to the company's long-term growth and success.
Participate in important company decisions as a founding team member.

This is a founding-partner opportunity, not a conventional CTO employment position.
The selected candidate will be expected to contribute time, technical expertise, leadership, and capital toward building Fango for the long term.
The capital contribution/investment amount, equity structure, vesting, responsibilities, and other commercial terms will be discussed transparently and mutually agreed upon with the selected candidate based on their experience, contribution, and level of involvement.
Candidates who are interested only in a conventional salaried CTO or senior engineering position may not be the right fit for this opportunity.
