Summary
The DGM – Procurement is responsible for leading strategic sourcing, supplier development, project procurement, cost optimization, and supply continuity for manufacturing operations. The role works closely with Engineering, Quality, Program Management, Operations, Finance, and Suppliers to ensure timely availability of materials and components while meeting quality, cost, delivery, and technological requirements.
The position plays a critical role in new product development (NPD/NPI), supplier performance management, value engineering initiatives, risk mitigation, and procurement process excellence.
Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing
Develop and execute category sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives.
Identify, evaluate, and onboard capable suppliers.
Lead RFQ, techno-commercial evaluation, negotiations, and contract finalization.
Drive supplier localization and alternate source development.
Supplier Management
Establish and maintain strategic supplier relationships.
Conduct supplier performance reviews covering Quality, Cost, Delivery, Development, and Sustainability.
Lead supplier escalation management for critical issues impacting business.
Support supplier capability assessments and improvement programs.
Project Procurement & NPI Support
Collaborate with Engineering and Program teams for new product introductions.
Ensure sourcing readiness for prototype, pilot, and production stages.
Manage supplier selection, tooling investments, and project timelines.
Track APQP, PPAP, validation, and supplier development activities.
Cost Management
Drive annual cost reduction and productivity initiatives.
Lead VA/VE activities with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
Benchmark commodities and technologies to identify savings opportunities.
Support budget planning and procurement forecasting.
Supply Chain Risk Management
Monitor material availability and proactively mitigate supply risks.
Develop contingency plans for critical components and suppliers.
Support resolution of warranty, field failure, and quality concerns impacting supply.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with Engineering, Quality, SQA, Manufacturing, Finance, and Logistics teams.
Facilitate decision-making to meet customer commitments and project milestones.
Lead procurement reviews and executive updates.
Team Leadership
Guide and develop procurement professionals.
Set goals, monitor performance, and build procurement capability.
Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Governance & Compliance
Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
Maintain ethical sourcing practices and contractual governance.
Support audits and regulatory compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement, or equivalent preferred.
Experience
16–19+ years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing industries.
Experience in automotive, engine, power systems, or industrial manufacturing preferred.
Exposure to NPI, supplier development, and global sourcing environments.

Summary
The DGM – Procurement is responsible for leading strategic sourcing, supplier development, project procurement, cost optimization, and supply continuity for manufacturing operations. Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing
Develop and execute category sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives.
