Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, validate, and support mechanical components, assemblies, and subsystems for new product development and sustaining engineering initiatives.
- Apply sound mechanical engineering principles, design standards, and best practices to deliver robust, reliable, and compliant engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Systems, Electrical, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Service to develop effective technical solutions.
- Participate in all phases of the product development lifecycle, including concept development, architecture, detailed design, prototyping, verification, validation, manufacturing transfer, and post-launch support.
- Perform engineering analyses, design calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis, and technical evaluations to support design decisions.
- Develop and review engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and technical documentation in accordance with established engineering standards.
- Plan and execute component and subsystem Verification & Validation (V&V) activities to demonstrate product performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
- Support supplier development, component qualification, manufacturing readiness, and engineering change activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve product quality, manufacturability, reliability, cost, and design standardization.
- Follow established engineering processes, quality systems, and documentation practices while delivering assigned work on schedule.
- Participate in technical reviews, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Continuously expand technical knowledge through mentoring, training, and collaboration with engineering peers.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing Engineering, or Tool Design is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical design, product development, and New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Experience designing and developing mechanical components and assemblies from concept through production.
- Hands-on experience with prototype development, testing, design verification, and design iteration.
- Experience collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional teams to support component development, qualification, and manufacturing readiness.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including engineering mechanics, strength of materials, GD&T, tolerance analysis, hand calculations and engineering calculations.
- Experience creating and reviewing engineering drawings and technical documentation in accordance with engineering standards.
- Experience planning and executing Verification & Validation (V&V) activities.
- Familiarity with structured product development processes, engineering change management, design reviews, and root cause analysis.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Demonstrated ability to independently execute mechanical design activities with strong attention to quality and detail.
- Experience leading technical tasks or coordinating design activities across cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and cost optimization principles.
- Experience supporting global engineering programs and collaborating with geographically distributed teams.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong stakeholder management and technical communication skills.
- Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is preferred.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
