Category Manager
Swish
Swish is building the next generation of food delivery by owning the entire value chain—from menu design and pricing to kitchen operations and customer experience. Unlike marketplaces, we operate our own kitchens, which means category decisions directly influence demand, freshness, throughput, and profitability.
About the Role
As a Category Manager, you'll own the business performance of one or more food categories (e.g. Breakfast, Snacks, Beverages, Late Night). Think of yourself as the General Manager for your category: responsible for driving growth, improving margins, and creating products customers come back for.
What You'll Own
Business Performance : Own your category P&L by driving orders, revenue, ASP, contribution margin, wastage, and SKU productivity.
Customer Growth : Improve conversion, repeat purchase, retention, purchase frequency, and customer lifetime value within your category.
Category Strategy : Shape assortment, pricing, promotions, and new product launches using customer insights, demand patterns, and market trends.
Cross-functional Execution : Partner with NPD, Kitchen Operations, Pricing, Product, Analytics, and Customer Experience to execute category initiatives and deliver business outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Build and execute quarterly category growth plans.
- Analyze customer behavior, pricing, assortment, demand, and competitive trends.
- Launch new products, optimize existing ones, and retire underperforming SKUs.
- Monitor business performance daily, identify issues early, and drive corrective actions.
- Improve forecasting, availability, throughput, and wastage through data-driven decisions.
- Run experiments across pricing, promotions, menu design, and assortment.
- Present category performance, insights, and recommendations to leadership.
What We're Looking For
- 3–4 years of experience owning a category, business line, or P&L in consumer internet, marketplace, D2C, quick-commerce, retail, or food-tech.
- Food-tech, cloud kitchen, QSR, or grocery experience is a plus, not a requirement.
- You have owned measurable business outcomes such as revenue, orders, margin, or growth, and can clearly articulate the metric you owned, the decisions you made, the trade-offs involved, and the impact you delivered.
- You're comfortable using data to identify opportunities, solve problems, prioritize initiatives, and independently drive multiple cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment.
- You actively use AI for forecasting, analysis, planning, documentation, workflow automation, or decision-making, and can demonstrate how it improves your effectiveness.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first six months, you should be able to demonstrate measurable business impact by growing orders, revenue, ASP, or contribution margin; reducing wastage through better forecasting or operational improvements; launching successful category initiatives or menu innovations; and improving customer retention or repeat purchase.
