Job Description

Job Description
This role focuses on powertrain packaging and CAD engineering, ensuring that vehicle components meet master design requirements before manufacturing. You will perform detailed compatibility and packaging studies in a 3D environment, update models and drawings based on engineering changes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve CAD and packaging issues.
Responsibilities
- Perform compatibility studies, including static and dynamic checks, clearances, variations, positional correctness, and interface completeness using Teamcenter, Vismockup, CATIA V5, and 3DX.
- Conduct detailed package study evaluations to ensure each vehicle and powertrain part meets master design requirements prior to manufacturing.
- Position CAD components accurately in the digital environment and interpret technical drawings to validate design intent.
- Update 3D models and engineering drawings in line with Engineering Change Requests, maintaining design integrity and traceability.
- Check and validate drawing prints in accordance with established drafting standards for powertrain and vehicle components.
- Collaborate closely with regional cross-functional teams to identify, analyze, and resolve CAD or packaging issues.
- Support flexible part simulation studies for components such as vents, cooling hoses, and bellows to ensure proper routing and clearances.
- Work with Bills of Materials (BOM) and program data to manage design complexity and ensure correct component representation in the digital product structure.
- Prepare and maintain documentation, reports, and presentations using Microsoft Office tools to communicate design status and issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of CAD methodologies, drafting standards, and packaging best practices within the team.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (BE/ME) in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering.
- Minimum of 2-6 years of experience in powertrain engineering, covering components such as transmission, driveline, engine, fuel, cooling, and exhaust systems.
- Hands-on experience with CAD positioning of components and assemblies in a 3D environment.
- Proven ability to interpret and work from technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Practical experience performing clearance and interference checks for powertrain and vehicle components.
- Experience in DI positioning and conducting detailed packaging and compatibility checks.
- Proficiency in updating 3D models and drawings based on Engineering Change Requests.
- Experience in drawing print checking in accordance with established drafting standards for powertrain and vehicle components.
- Hands-on experience working in a 3DX environment for CAD and packaging activities.
- Proficiency with Teamcenter and Vismockup for digital mockup and product data management.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5 for 3D modeling and drafting.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and regional teams.
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools for documentation, reporting, and communication.
- Experience with flexible part simulation studies, including vents, cooling hoses, and bellows.
- Familiarity with Bills of Materials (BOM) and managing program complexity in a digital product development environment.
- Experience working with established drafting standards and contributing to their continuous improvement.
- Exposure to vehicle packaging studies and integration of powertrain components within the overall vehicle layout.
- Ability to work independently on CAD tasks while coordinating closely with broader engineering and program teams.
- Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to checking and validating CAD data and drawings.
