We are seeking an energetic and result-oriented Business Development Executive to drive merchant acquisition, engagement, and business growth across an assigned territory. This role is ideal for sales professionals who enjoy field-based interactions, building strong business relationships, and achieving ambitious sales targets through consistent execution and customer engagement.

As a Business Development Executive, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of retail merchants and ensuring strong product adoption and transaction growth within your assigned geography. The role requires regular market visits, relationship building, account management, and proactive problem-solving to maximize merchant engagement and business performance.

You will serve as the primary point of contact for merchants, helping them understand the value of digital business solutions while ensuring long-term usage and satisfaction. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, commercial awareness, negotiation abilities, and the confidence to engage with business owners and decision-makers.

This is a high-visibility role that combines field sales, account management, and business development. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, target-driven, and capable of building lasting merchant relationships while contributing significantly to business growth and market expansion.

Key Responsibilities

Merchant Relationship Management

  • Visit assigned merchants regularly as per the planned sales route and engagement schedule.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with merchants and business owners.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by understanding merchant needs and providing appropriate business solutions.
  • Address merchant concerns, objections, and operational challenges in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure high levels of merchant satisfaction and retention through consistent engagement.

Sales & Business Development

  • Drive adoption and regular usage of business solutions among assigned merchants.
  • Influence merchants and their teams to increase product utilization and transaction volumes.
  • Identify opportunities to expand business within existing accounts and generate additional revenue.
  • Develop new business opportunities through networking, referrals, and market outreach activities.
  • Consistently achieve assigned sales, revenue, and transaction targets.

Account Management & Portfolio Growth

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of retail merchants within the assigned territory.
  • Monitor merchant performance and identify areas for improvement and growth.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups to ensure continued engagement and business activity.
  • Support merchants in understanding product benefits, business value, and commercial advantages.
  • Drive account expansion and long-term portfolio development.

Market Intelligence & Reporting

  • Gather market insights, competitor information, and customer feedback from the field.
  • Monitor industry trends and identify emerging opportunities within the territory.
  • Share actionable market intelligence with sales leadership and management teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of merchant visits, business activities, and performance metrics.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on sales progress and market developments.

Target Achievement & Execution

  • Take ownership of business goals and territory performance.
  • Execute sales plans and business development initiatives effectively.
  • Track key performance indicators and implement strategies to improve outcomes.
  • Ensure disciplined follow-up and timely closure of opportunities.
  • Contribute to overall business growth through consistent field execution.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • 3–4 years of proven field sales experience in B2B environments.
  • Strong experience working with retail merchants, general trade businesses, or channel-driven sales models.
  • Background in Telecom, Banking, SaaS, Billing Solutions, FMCG distribution, or similar industries is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
  • Strong account management and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including strong spoken English.
  • Confident, assertive, and comfortable interacting with business owners and decision-makers.
  • Strong negotiation skills with sound commercial understanding.
  • Ability to understand numbers, business metrics, and sales performance indicators.
  • Self-driven, ambitious, and highly motivated to succeed in a target-oriented environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and objection-handling skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple merchant relationships.
  • Excellent organizational and territory management skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region.
  • Graduate degree preferred, with strong analytical and business acumen.
