AS400 developers are responsible for developing new applications, modifying existing programs, and maintaining critical business systems on the IBM iSeries platform
Their duties include analyzing user requirements, coding, testing, implementing software solutions, and providing technical support for AS400 systems
Key technical skills for AS400 developers include:
- Programming Languages: RPG, RPGLE, CL, CLLE, COBOL, SQL, and sometimes SQLRPGLE
- Database Management: Experience with DB2 databases is essential
- Integration: Familiarity with APIs, web services, and modern integration techniques is a plus
